Day 1: Day 1: Arrive San Jose
On arrival in San José you will be met and transferred to your hotel for the night. Depending on what time you arrive you can get a brief glimpse at this metropolis set amongst soaring mountains. Despite it's reputation for being a sprawling city you will find vibrant markets, interesting museums, a pleasant National Park, sophisticated night life and a charm of its own. Overnight in San Jose.

Day 2: San Jose – Tortuguero
You will leave your hotel very early this morning on a shared ground transfer to Caño Blanco dock and have breakfast en route. After passing through a banana plantation, you will take a shared boat transfer to Tortuguero canals before arriving at your Lodge. After lunch, you will have a tour of the small town and museum. There will be a short stop at the beach before returning to the Lodge for dinner. Overnight in Tortuguero.

Day 3: Tortuguero
After breakfast you have a full day to explore the trails surrounding your Lodge, or to make the most of the optional excursions. Lunch is included. There's a sunrise boat ride and wildlife exploration tour through the forest and along the scenic waterways which are home to over 60 mammal and 300 bird species. After dinner, you can walk along the beach and, between July and September, see the green turtles nesting.

Day 4: Tortuguero – Arenal
After breakfast you have an early boat transfer to Caño Blanco dock, and upon arrival connect with a shared ground transfer to Guapiles, where you can enjoy lunch. After lunch, take a private ground transfer to Arenal. Arenal has the most active volcano in the country and is particularly spectacular as it is circled by rainforest. Overnight in Arenal.

Day 5: Arenal
After breakfast you have a full morning at leisure to enjoy the local area and the optional activities available in the Arenal region. In the afternoon, enjoy a shared tour to Arenal Volcano National Park and then relax in the hot springs. Overnight in Arenal.

Day 6: Arenal – San Jose
After breakfast you have the morning at leisure and at about noon you will have a private ground transfer back to San José. It will give you a chance to see the places you missed and to pick up any local handicrafts you may want to take home. Overnight in San Jose.

Day 7: Depart San Jose
After breakfast in your hotel and checking out you will transfer to San Jose International airport for your onward flight.
