Day 1: Arrive Mexico City
Arrive at Mexico City International Airport where you will be met by your representative and transferred to your hotel. Once you have settled in, you will have the remainder of the day at leisure to explore this wonderful capital city which rarely fails to impress with its vibrant street life and cultural offerings. Overnight in Mexico City.
Day 2: Mexico City
After breakfast you start the day with a tour of the highlights of Mexico City. You will visit the National Palace, with Diego Rivera’s famous murals as well as the Metropolitan Cathedral which houses some of the finest artworks. Thereafter, you will go to see the historic hill on the outskirts of Mexico City; Chapultepec Park and the wonderful residential district. Spend the evening at leisure. Overnight in Mexico City.
Day 3: Mexico City
Today’s trip will include a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Pyramids of Teotihuacan and the Shrine of Guadalupe. The archaeological site of Teotihuacan was believed to be built around 2000 years ago and means ‘the place where the gods were shaped’. Here you can find the Pyramids of the Sun and Moon, La Ciudadela and Quezalpappalotl Palace, which are the main buildings along the Avenue of the Dead. Overnight in Mexico City.
Day 4: Mérida
After breakfast you will be taken to Mexico City Airport for your flight to Mérida. From here, you will be transferred to your hotel. You will then be taken on a tour of Mérida. Free events are on offer most evenings of the week. On Saturdays, the “Corazón de Merida” means that the streets in the downtown open up to music and al fresco dining. Overnight in Mérida.
Day 5: Mérida
After breakfast, today’s sightseeing tour includes the ruins of Uxmal and Kabah. Uxmal is a well-preserved pre-Columbian city ruin from the Maya civilisation which was unusually well built. You will see why the Maya architecture is famous for its elegance and beauty. After a traditional lunch you will visit Kabah which lies to the south and is the second largest ruin in the area. Overnight in Mérida.
Day 6: Chichen Itza
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Chichen Itza for a sightseeing tour of the sacred archaeological site, one of the largest and best preserved of the Yucatán peninsula. The main attraction here is the Pyramid of Kukulcan, a fine example of the fusion of Maya and Tolteca cultures. The pyramid has a special astronomical significance and the layout depicts a Mayan calendar, with four stairways and a total of 365 steps. Lunch included.Overnight in Chichen Itza.
Day 7: Depart Mérida
After enjoying breakfast and checking out of your hotel you will be transferred to either Mérida International Airport or Cancun International Airport for your onward flight.
