From Jenni Crozier and Celia King on their trip to Peru

In the end we had a fabulous time in Peru. Coltur looked after us really well. We were met at the airport, our bags whisked away and within minutes we were on our way to our hotel in Lima. They made sure we liked the hotel, knew where to get food and most importantly knew when they were picking us up the next day. Next morning they were there promptly to return us to the airport - again bags taken care of whilst we queued in the check in fast lane.

In Cusco we got the same excellent service and were soon settled into our very lovely atmospheric hotel. The next morning we had a personalised tour of the city and nearby Inca sites - Sacsaywuaman, Tambomachay, Pucara and Kelnco and were dropped off at a lovely restaurant overlooking the main square in Cusco for lunch. Our guide was happy to give us lots of suggestions for the afternoon and show us on the map how to get there. We went to the Inca museum and the artisan district (to shop). The next day we went to the Sacred Valley and Olantaytambo which were spectacular. Ollantaytambo involves the usual steep climb up ancient steps to the top where there are examples of Incan farming, mother earth worship and storehouses. We had lunch at a restaurant which specialises in Andean foods, serenaded by Andean pipes. It was terrific. Finally we went to the market in Pisac. The bridge over the river has partially collapsed but they have rigged up a pedestrian bridge over the broken part so after dropping us off the driver went around to the other side of the bridge and we met him there - saved us an hour and a halfs drive back in the van which was very considerate of them. Again our guide was brilliant, friendly and well informed.

The following day we headed down to Puno on Lake Titicaca. The floods had washed out part of the track on the railway we had planned to go on so we were offered a private transfer with a guide instead. Wonderfully it turned out that the train would run (for the first time since the floods). So we went back to that and had an amazing day on the Peruvian version of the Orient Express chuntering along through impressive scenery for ten hours. We were excellently wined and dined and entertained with music, a fashion show and a workshop on making Andean cocktails! A truly memorable day. At one point the train goes straight down the middle of a main street in a town - shops on either side and constant hooting to warn people to get out of the way. It was great. In Puno again we were met and quickly installed in our hotel. The following day we explored Lake Titicaca and Isla Taquile. Again a friendly and well informed guide. Visiting the famous floating reed islands is a must. The next day we were picked up and taken to Juiliaca to catch our flight back to Lima. Again excellent service from Coltur even stopping at an ATM in town to avoid the expensive charges from the hotel machine. In Lima we had a morning tour and again the guide was friendly and well informed and we were given suggestions for where to get lunch and ideas for the afternoon. We chose to walk from our hotel to the seafront where there is a lovely tourist shopping centre overlooking the ocean. Then it was time to leave Peru for the next leg of our journey. Wonderful memories and wonderful experience. We really did not miss not seeing Macchu Picchu by the time we left as we felt we had a really good idea of Inca life and buildings from what we saw. Will I go back to see it? Well not urgently, as I really felt well 'Incaed' and the whole area is just so amazing and beautiful. From start to finish Coltur were very well organised and friendly. Thank you About U travel. Great job." Jenni Crozier and Celia King. February 2010

From Chris Dick and Juliet Caro on their trip to Sri Lanka

Thanks Emma. We had a smashing time. The (Fortress) hotel was first class and very quiet. The staff excelled in courtesy and service. The room was fabulous and the scenery was beautiful. We safari'd and made a chum who took us everywhere in his tut tut. The food at the hotel was very very good. As I said in an earlier e mail, the driving took a lot of getting used to. There are only 49 rooms as it is, so peace and quiet are top of the tree. There aren't many restaurants around so consider half board. All in all Emma, a wonderful hotel. The holiday was a total success and was everything we wanted. Highly recommended by us both. It made my 40th and Valentines very special. Thank you from us both for all of your hard work in respect of booking this for us and we will be in contact in the future for another holiday I'm sure.Chris Dick and Juliet Caro February 2010

From John and Hazel Bennett on their trip to Peru and Bolivia

Thank you About-You-Travel, especially Judith for being so helpful planning and organising our recent trip to South America. From the moment we arrived we were met efficiently and professionally by your local agents. We had some amazing accommodation experiences, especially the Inka Terra Machu Picchu in Aguas Calientes where you recommend we stay; a fabulous hotel and location. Hassle free and stress free, we both felt very well looked after and we got the most out of our travel experience due to the local guides and the comprehensive itinerary you recommended and prepared. We are very grateful for a seamless holiday that went astonishingly smoothly considering the distance and sights we covered in just 4 weeks. We are both happy to promote About-You-Travel to other potential travellers for a unique travel and cultural experience wherever your destination of choice maybe.
